Getting Colder

So last night's canal ride was splendid.
First-off we (Gio and I) did not miss the closing of the gates. Always good... When they close early, it makes us have to take another lets say 10km exit path off the canal wall. We have to cycle to the Jacques-Cartier bridge and then back home (which is basically right at the Victoria bridge).

"Le Cafe du Canal" was open and we had lattes and biscotti, along with bitter chocolate. We were huddled between to big rocks for coverage as the wind was up a bit. It was warm in that huddle, especially after we simmered the milk and brewed the coffee. Outside temp was about -1C (30F) and with windchill around -3C (26F). Is starting to get quite cold while packing up the coffee station/kitchen. The little cesna airplane seemed to be patrolling again...drug running perhaps?? I wonder if they have areal photos of our kitchen camp??

The city of Montreal looked spectacular on the other side of the St Laurence. We did not go all the way to Cote-St-Catherine, but stopped at the point where the newer trail climbs up to the road surface.

At one point (just about as I was calling Gio a sissy for not having climbed the steeper climb) I end-o'd, caught my handle bars in a tree and was thrown into another tree. It was a young tree and caught me lke a soft wooden leaf spring (pun intended) and no injuries.

Have only done about 200km (125 miles) this season. Almost all of it on the canal wall, with a few exceptions at Mt. Rougemont. But I have to say it has been one of my favorite riding seasons ever. Lots of Fall riding, that's my favorite time of the year. Gio says that much of our favorite clib out at Bromont has been ploughed for a suburb. :-(

Poor Gio, he was 25 minute early for our 16:00 rendez-vous, and I 35 minutes late. I hate getting to work early enough to leave by 15:30 and still getting caught in 1 hour ++ traffic.
Sushi was on me.
