Cape Breton is Beautiful

Really...quite wonderful for sure.
We've been back from vacation for about a week now...lots to write about...work home...asana...for now just this:

OK and this one too

Needless to say we came back more grounded in having eaten seafood than in our asana practice :-)

Oh My...

Life is zooming by...
Back from vacation for 3 weeks now???
Am too tired (stunned) to count.
The summer is evaporating....
Getting back into the swing of work is difficult.
Am eating too much food and drinking too much wine...

I've signed up for the weeklong ashtanga intensive (TT???) with Darby and Hart.
My body is not ready...the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Must find a way to get some personal intensives happening in the next couple of weeks without injuring myself.
I'm having a realy hard time re-discovering my discipline...

Went to see the Bill Frisell Quintet at the Jazz fet with Mat Coull...really good show...not quite spectacular...but some very fine moments...

We have adopted another dog. We've named her Santosa...but we call her Zen for short...she is a beautiful little pup aournd 12 weeks old...part Imperial Poodle, part Chow. We adore her.

I saw a dead kitten on the other side of the Victoria Bridge this morning, it had been hit by a car...my sadness kindled by this site reminded me of loosing Luna...and in an instant I had imagined that Luna had taken a rebirth. One which would put her close to Loren and me...and that she was this dead kitten...such a mignificant effort to navigate the complex universe of possible existances to get so close...but failing to enter into our experience (in an expected way) to be comforted and to feel at home...

I was stricken with an profound sense of longing.

Some Summer Details...

So it would seem that much of my life is passing by under the blog-radar. I suspected this would happen sooner or later...

Quick hit list:

Work
Ongoing changes are stressful
Facilitator training
Process improvement training risk mgt for the time being more to follow
still no manager
still no director
interim supervisor having trouble justifying the historical method of budgeting for my position
the good news is that he might end up the new dept manager...I wonder if that'll change the way he views my position??

Asana
Very close to none
Well I guess it doesn't count as daily asana practice if I read the ezboard ashtanga postings?
Will I that upcomming workshop with Hart and Darby??

Seated meditation
Very little sice home from vacation

Eating
have relearned to do this to extremes
as well as drinking wine and beers etc.

Finances
eeesh don't want to get into that
Loren just now reminded me about property taxes due shortly...timing!

Cycling
About as low as asana practice

Home
Ongoing frustration of puppy-life
Difficult to adjust, not really over Luna yet, not really ready for new pup
Chewing everything etc.
Had a very nice time for Loren's birthday, home cooked dinner and a group outing...lots of nice flowers

In summary??
I'm more than a little down, though I realize I have a blessed life and will soon find my practice and my discipline.
Time to find and reread that blurb that Glen printed for me, the one about the four enemies of a man of knowledge, from Carlos Castanada...just for a little kick in the ass. Posting pictures seems to get me into the beauty of my life...time to revive the yahoo! camera...look out...

Birthday Poem and Photo

Title in progress...

was it the magnificent moon
who brought you here

were you carried here
on her glorious silvery waves

is it she who bathes you
in her celestial shining beauty

your brilliant fluid shimmer
gives her away

it is not so...
rather it is your own beauty
which I see illuminating the heavens
