Worm to Worm(s)

Eight ounces of mezcal (tequlia's cheap 2nd cousin) and the worm, It's the last bottle brought back from mexico for me by my mother. I think she passed in november 1999, shortly after her birthday. Before she was ill she's go to mexico by cruise boat, and she'd bring me back mezcal. I can remember carrying forward 3 worms, so that there'd be four worms in one bottle... ahhh the brossard days...

Yeah I'm a bit looped...

Well tonight the last bottle she brought back was finished, including the worm. Basically I'm doing the tequlia/mezcal full moon anti-parasite treatment. Karen indicated no less than 6 ounces on the full moons. Well tonight saw 8 ounces consumed... along with the worm...lets see how those little intestinal parasites go running when the are introduced to digested bits of a super-parasite...

From my last visit with Karen she seemed to think that one more month on the anti-parasite would do, this is the icing on the cake.

A clean kitchen, and a big file-copy on the emac... (tunes)

Thursday night saw Donald's first participation. Not sure if he'll join regularly... he still into the weights... though he seemed to have a good time.

(What do You Want [shuffle demeons] on the ipod)... corn beef on rye...

We did sun sals and standing postures... Gilles was very interested to try marchiasana after we had finished... I'm guessing he's liking the seated posture assisted practice more than standing postures... Charles had to leave early... he brought cohcolates...

Do you want to get down?

Asana

Another good start to the week...
To the gym by 06:15, and the typical routine... up to Janu B and finishing.
Therma-therapy took on new significance... as it's currently -22 celcius (-34 including wind-chill). Brrrrr... My red face this morning is being attributed by practically everyone to the cold... I don't blame them...

Blew the routine this morning...
Was at Dougs place last night; wine + pizza = no 05:00 AM waking.
Am going to try to get in a PM practice at home...

Yesterday was a nice full (up to janu B) practice at the gym. Gilles was doing work on his cd with Helena, he couldn't make the Tuesday night session, so I did full morning practice.

Yesterday I experienced my deepest un-assisted forward bend ever. I managed a full finger bind on the other side of my feet in the last paschimatanasana (I'm doing 5 versions with longer updog following) and head was resting on knees/shins (not touching...resting), breath was easy and it felt soooo good.

With the mirrors I'm staring to notice that legs are looking more like ashtangi's legs and less like cyclist's legs. I'm feeling the change it in the hamstrings (no surprise given the deepenning of the forward bends).

I'm going to ask Loren to get over to 295 to turn the heat up... we'll see...
May be a chilled practice this afternoon...

Ba-Da-Boom

Great drum weekend with Corey. He arrived late Friday night and stayed until late Sunday. We spent the weekend looking through old Modern Drummer mags playing music for each other and of course drumming.

We listenned to a Buddy Guy album I'd never heard before, it's called Sweet Tea. We did it front to back... hardly spoke at all... it's amazing. We also did Steve Reich, Six Marimbas, and Drumming. Got into a really fun 5/4 groove. Must have gone on for 5 minutes or so...

Saturday we dropped in on Shankar's Saturday afternoon all levels class. It was quite fun... though not a typical ashtanga class. Lots of prep/research poses and tons of alignment cues a la Hart Lazer/Iyengar. It offered a good working over...

Asana

Another good/timely start to the week... arrived at the gym just minutes after 06:00. Up to Janu-B again, and finishing.

And of course the Saturday session at Sattva mentioned earlier.

Any postural progression? Well I think trunk is starting to approach vertical in the prasaritas... not really vertical... though just enough of an improvement for me to feel that something's changed away from the cruved back I typically exhibit here. And perhaps a bit of progression in forward bends, still doing 5 paschimatanasanas...

Christine was over for a private lesson last Thursday. Colin was absent, Gilles Charles and me. She worked us hard in the step forward foundation for virabhradrasana... no lifting back foot... not lifting hands... step only as far as you can with these restraints and take the pose. It was much harder than doing a widestance... especially in the squaring of the hip of the extended leg.

Asana

Well...
Looks like I'm not even able to get the basic asana entries posted...
I miss the times when I could post photos of my life and get all reflexsive and romantic on life...

Tuesday full practice up to Janu B including finishing. Tuesday night no practice, Gilles was over, we started (and finished) a bit late I passed on the opportunity to practice, and opted for food instead, we had some sushi, salmon and a rich and mushroom dish Gilles made... yum...

Wednesday no practice... had a visit with Karen... very good work. Quite a load of therapy we deal with some of the time...

Thursday night...
Nagesh and Santhosh joined, we did up to parsvotanasana and then finishing.
Colin and Donald didn't show... Colin, Philly Donald, weights.
Christine is on the invite list, and Hannah, but generally I don't expect them.

This week Rakesh would like to come as well... if Colin and Donald come it'll be a full house... if the girls comes... well it'll be very tight indeed!!

Got the new programmable thermostat installed at 295... should be fewer people dealing with the chills when we arrive... (if I've programmed it correctly).

This morning... into the yoga studio at the gym for 06:20. They've got a little radial radiant heater in there now... it's my own electric-sun for my sun sals! I've added JanuC, am going to try to work on the pace a bit to speed it up a touch... so that I might be able to get to Marich B and officially resume the practice I had in India.

Soon coming... a post about the possibility of studying with Tarik, and perhaps a workshop with Rolf??? Too bad I've missed Lisa.

Asana

06:40 was on the mat at the gym...
Lite practice... 6 sun sals... Udhanurasana prep work, and finishing.
Heavy therma-therapy...

I'm expecting Gilles tonight... this week is seated postures.

I am a big yogi... scale at the gym says 198lbs... not hard to imagine with all the calories I take in...

Asana

With Gilles last night was good... He brought home-baked (Danel) apple pie. Even without the pie I'm sure it would have been a good evening.

This is the week for seated postures so, 6 sun sals and, from dandasana to marichi B, no backbends or finishing. His adjustments are lite, which is a very good thing. I guess that you could say that paschimatan and triangMPP are the poses which I'm really working on these days, or should I say which are working on me.

Listenned to Ollabelle and Greg Brown.

And then this morning (a little late ~06:45) at the gym to do sun sals, standing, and finishing postures. Was moving quite slowly this morning. So after doing sirsasana and balasana I came to sitting on heels (to take a few breaths). My body was called to move in a way which I've never done before...

While kneeling, I reached my right hand to the floor just on the outside of my left knee, and folded my left hand over my back. Then I applied the same trunk motion in utthitha parsvokanasana... weighting the hand on the floor and openning the chest. I stayed for a few breaths... likely 5. Then I did the other side...

As I applied the twwisting...POP!! went my lower back around sacral area... I was stunned... though for sure my back was now going be out... really out... walking crooked out... going to mees me up for a while out...

The only thing I could sense was a softenning all over... kinda like when a head ache goes away... you feel liberated from the tension and totally at ease and refreshed...

I smiled, and checked out the smile in the mirror (gym reference). And took rest.

I feel great!

I'm on day 2 of thuja occidentalis for treatment of the vaccine's effect. The C5 thing and the numb left fingers I've had for a while now. Hope that sacral pop gets the ball rolling and this starts clearing up now...

I Can't Help Myself

I've been thinking twice about posting this for a while now... I would really like to have a record of and am proceeding...
My good buddy/colleague who is corrently in India wrote to a few of us...
In a way I'm very touched by the range of experience he's having... in a way I just love his stories and how he relates to the world...

Hey you guys,

MUMBAY one the biggest city in the world. Man how would of guest. There is not one building standing. I never saw so many people sleeping in the street. It makes me sick. I can't even see the differance between homeless people and the others. Everyone is so durty. It's not even funny.

The food is spicy as hell is hot. I can't take it anymore. I have hart burn so intense that I wounder if my stomich is pearced and I can ear the sound fire estinguishing when my shit hits the water in the toilet bol. Hey, this is painfuI.

Amjad arranged for me a drive to transport me from the hotel to the site and back. He drives one of those 3 wheelers. His pretty cool. except for the fact that he brings me flowers in the morning and that he tries to send me prostitutes almost every night.

Today I saw my first cow. What a sacred animal. It was so beautiful. It's head in a pile of garbage trying to find some food to eat. Now it's clear to me why people here don't eat cows.

I still have 2 weeks to endure this pain and after I hope that my plane wont be late.

I love you guys...

Asana

Charles, Colin, Gilles, Donald, Nagesh and myself.
No pre-recorded audio lead...
6 sun sals, standing, and seated, up to purvatanasana, followed by finishing. Gilles did sarvangasana for the first time... he had spotters, but I don't think he needed them.

And a nice pot-luck feast afterwards.
Home made tortillias and black beans, Loren's rice salad, with beets, veg sushi, wonderful bread and cheeses, little pizza-antipastos, dolmades and some hot peppers... 2 different pilsners.

Social highlights...
Nagesh getting to know wasabi, and a small jam session after most had left, drums djembe and bass... Colin, Gilles and I. Really nice evening.

Some music therapy as well... I had the Police on shuffle mode on the ipod...

Murder by Numbers
Re humanize Yourself
I burn for You
Message in a bottle
Invisible Sun
Bombs Away
Synchronicity II
When the World is Running Down... (Urgh live with the really great Summers solo)

Among others...

Then drifted off to sleep with the Anuradha Paudwal's Gayatri Mantra in the headphones.

Nice
