Back From Northbay

And happy 08!

It was a nice visit. Loren's parents are fading, so it's also kind of a sad visit. Bill managed to make it this year which was great.

One week and all the routines have been upset... am just getting back... the most difficult thing must be the house full of second-hand smoke. I think that's why my sleep was so rotten.

And day after tomorrow off to FL, not much time to get a routine and as far as I can tell not much of an ashtanga scene down there... will report from the field shortly...

We haven't been in touch with Danny, will try to reach hm tomorrow.

Something close to 25cm of snow fell on Montreal yesterday (during our drive). I spent the day shovelling and planning to get myself out of gadget/OS hell (new 80G ipod and new mobile phone)

Loren and I played Wii while visiting with Margo and family...

Poems

Our 213 new moon (lunarversary) was last week. 213 moons Loren and I have been together now. We exchanged poems (unplanned). It was nice to receive hers... she sent it with a purolater package containing something I forget in Montreal.

We wrote each a poems...

Loren's

let's go to Nova Scotia
let's go to Scotland
let's go to Goa
but not all at once
but not all at once

Mine

snowdrifts shift
devices defy
seasons (appear to) slip
hibernation shortens
moons sail away

Updates from FL

This is probably the earliest in the year I've ever been sent of the road.
I won't see any of my friends or colleagues until early February... Kind of an odd way to start the year...

Well I've been busy catching up on sleep... The holiday week we spent visiting with Loren's parents really took it's toll, I couldn't get to sleep at all the entire week. I became a late-night TV zombie... hate it when that happens...

First week of course is over. Haven't seen much of Florida, early morning routine yoga on the hard cool tiled floor of my large queen executive suite... off to work. Once back, maybe a short run on the treadmill, or a go on the elliptical trainer, and some steam room therapy. Or some days, just the steam room... after that a quick bite in the hotel's restaurant (they call it a cafe). This little place served up what may have been the best pizza I've ever had in my life. I ordered the simple cheese pizza, with a couple of extra toppings; kalamata olives, spinach, and feta cheese... oh my god was it wonderful... after a quick bite there, off to bed... not lots of time to be gallivanting around Florida...

It's a neat hotel, not part of one of the big chains, it's privately owned. Nice place, haven't been to the pool yet btw...

I've had access to a computer running XP, which means I've been able to load up the new 80Gig ipod (Thank-you kindly Loren!!!) with some tunes... and about 3 months worth of NPR's All Songs Considered podcasts. Looking forward to new music exposure...

It's Saturday early evening and I slept in quite late (embarrassed to say exactly) and it's less than 1 hour until my massage (oh yeah the hotel has a really nice spa). I'll be on the table tonight for my second deep tissue massage since arrival. I'd like to get a yoga session in and maybe a short soak in the oversized hot tub in my room.

Hope 2008 is off to a good start for you all... (sorry for not getting back on some of your recent emails and voice massages) I am very much looking forward to an opportunity to see you some time soon... how does late February sound??? :-)

Going to try Tampa's Yogani studio tomorrow morning. They have a few ashtanga classes on the schedule... it's been a very long time since I've dropped in at a studio to do a lead class... will report back tomorrow...

Be well, do good work, stay out of trouble...
