Sharath in Glasgow

I dropped into the studio tonight on the way home. I had some posters of a couple of things I wanted to put up, one of them being for a class where I planned to play Sharath's audio for led primary. So I hands my teacher the flyer and asked her what she thinks.

"On no", she says, "We're down in London that week".

And I've this huuuuuuge grin on my face.

"Oh I would've loved to come to that"

My smiles getting bigger and I'm like "Come on..... Sharath in Glasgow, d'ya think?"

Just as well she was sitting the other side of the table marking student papers cos I'm sure she would've lent over and hit me. Ahhhhh will savour this for the led class she takes next week. The class will love this one!

Arms oot ma sockets...

The weekend was very hectic. I was up at Glen Coe again snowboarding, though this time I was happy enough to have my own board and boots. I had a fantastic time, though I spent most of the morning with my nose or backside burried in the snow.

So I expected things to be pretty tough in the Iyengar class but I couldn't believe the pain that my arm sockets would give me just doing a basic plank posture. I've read of people talking about their body screaming at them to stop but never really understood the excruciating nature of what that meant. It's a whole other level beyond fatigue when your arms start to shake or tiredness. I felt like i'd been hit by the proverbial truck. But I'm thinking this is a good thing. It's all fair and well this yoga stuff but I think sometimes I need to put all that practice into good use and let my body experience different physical stimulus than from within the fairly well known confines of a yoga class. Ok, it aches. But as John Scott said to me.. is it bad pain or sweet pain? If I was standing in front of Guruji last night I'd have spent 20 minutes pointing at all the bits going 'Pain, Guruji!'.

Class itself was excellent as ever. We ended up doing handstands last night, which I'm fairly comfortable with as long as I'm nearish to a wall. I can do them in the middle of an ashtanga practice (have only toppled out the few times) but I just can't hold it up for very long. I'm sure it will come with practice. Something else to add to the ashtanga to do list... :>
