still in pondicherry. still sick.
here is our plan.... it makes me cringe when i think about it... first of all we were going to check out of our room today (this morning), but since i was up in the night AGAIN, i couldn't stand the thought of losing a secure toilet for the next 48 hours. so, i asked our guesthouse man if i could stay in the room until we left tonight at 9... the next 48 hours you ask????
we leave here on the night train to madurai. there is a HUGE festival goiing on so we can't find a room. marathon plan is to... get off this night train, find a hotel that will hold our luggage for the day and then wander the streets for the day, get our bags that evening and get on another night train to trivandrum which will arrive in the morning. as you can see this is two nights without a secure toilet and no shower. it's very warm here and ughh..... i have never really felt this way in india (maybe that is a lie) usually i'm so excited about everything, but this trip is turning out to be quite challenging for me..
we went to auroville yesterday and it was nice. we took a tour and it was a bit rushed and really didn't see much of auroville, but it seems super cool. i want to retire there :)
got up this morning after having a night of getting up a few times and did yoga including my new pranayama exercises. it was so nice. i really like doing the breathing work and have been trying to do it daily, although i missed a few days during this stupid bug in my tummy....
Pongal is the huge festival going on. it is a festival that celebrates the harvest and people gather together and celebrate in a big way. one of the things they do here, that i totally love love love is the rangoli work (like on the back of my gold jewelry www.karazidesign.com click on gold) every house has a beautiful rangoli sometimes colored and it is so amazing. i have been taking lots of photos and will post when i can. they are designs sprinkled on the ground in front of peoples homes and it is make with rice flour so birds and other creatures can come and eat it. it is also an auspicious welcoming for anyone coming into your home. they are really beautiful and very mindful as well.
i guess that's it for now... i'm going to try to eat something..
